Hear the New Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Speakers in Person
Join us on November 19 for the launch of the 800 Series Diamond
A great speaker should disappear and leave you alone with the music. Few do. Most people pick speakers from a spec sheet or a wall of boxes, then realize they don’t convert to great sound in their home.
If you're in San Juan, Guaynabo, or Dorado and care about high-performance audio, you rarely get the chance to hear the best speakers before you buy. Concrete construction, common on the island, makes the choice harder because the room changes how every speaker sounds.
On November 19, we're celebrating the launch of the new Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond range, and you're invited. Sixty years in the making, the new range is the fifth generation of the flagship line. Here's what is new in the lineup and how you can hear it for yourself.
What Is New in the Fifth Generation
The 800 Series Diamond D5 replaces the D4 range but keeps the Diamond Dome tweeter that made the line famous. The biggest change is inside the cabinet. Extensive use of aluminum, including new Space Frame Bracing at the rear, gives Bowers & Wilkins its most mechanically quiet enclosure to date.
A quieter cabinet means the speaker colors the music less, so a bass line or a vocal sounds the way the engineer mixed it. Technology from the 800 Series Signature models also moved down into this range, which the brand says brings more openness and lower distortion. The range also adds four new finishes: Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut, and Dark Walnut.
Choosing the Right Model for Your Room
The range has seven models. They each work best in certain spaces and for different types of music. If you sit down for focused listening to vocals, jazz, or acoustic recordings, the 805 D5 two-way standmount gives you the Diamond Dome tweeter’s detail in a compact speaker.
If you play music with big dynamics, like a full orchestra or a rock record, the four three-way floorstanders bring more bass and scale. They run from the 804 D5 and 803 D5 up to the 802 D5 and the flagship 801 D5. The larger models give you more impact as the room and the music grow.
If movies are part of the plan, the range also includes two center-channel speakers, the HTM81 D5 and HTM82 D5, to help anchor the dialogue.
Your room still matters. Concrete walls reflect more sound than drywall, so speaker placement and room treatment shape what you hear as much as the speakers do. We start with how you listen and what you play, then match the speakers with an amplifier and source that suits them. Linn is one of the brands we pair with Bowers & Wilkins for that job.
Why Hearing Them in Person Matters
Specs only get you so far with speakers. Details in the treble and control in the bass are things you have to hear in person. Starting on November 19, you can listen to the new range and judge it firsthand. We recommend bringing a recording you know well. Listen to how voices and instruments come through, and notice how clean the bass stays as the volume rises.
Interested in testing out the speakers? Reach out, and we'll send you the details as soon as we have them for our November 19 event. If the date doesn't work for you, ask about listening at our showroom.
A new generation of the 800 Series arrives only every few years, and hearing one at launch is rare. Contact our team here or use the live chat below to get more event details. And when you call, we always answer, so ask us anything about the new range.
